Martin B. Anderson has come leaping back to life in the form of class pictures that have been making the rounds. Feel free to invite former #1 Schoolers from the 50s-60s to visit this blog and comment. Also feel free to exchange contact info with long lost friends. Anyone with pictures of other 50s-60s classes please send them to Ezra. Other memories? Sgt. Moynihan? Ken & Birdie Button? Tay House Carnival? White Elephant Sales? Mrs. Lintz' kindergarten circus? And just who WAS Martin B?

Oh MY GOD! It's the original Don & Bob's Hamburgers near 12 Corners. We went there all the time. Used to call it Bon & Dobs. This place is long gone but there is another branch out by Lake Ontario somewhere.
and there's a "Don's Original" out Monroe Avenue near Clover, but it CAN'T be as good as the original.
Note that the burgers cost 45 cents in the picture, and as I remember they were bigger than the bun.
Don & Bob's was torn down about five years ago and a bank was built on the site. The bank gave away free frozen custard cones during its grand opening. Nice touch!
My parents and I use to often frequent Don and Bob's. We use to go weekends, especially over the summer months. Everyone you knew was there, and Ezra is right, the hamburgers WERE larger than the buns. The aroma and flavor could never be beat, not before or since. I was sorry when it was sold and then torn down. Their Chocolate Almond Custard was a flavor all its own! Nice memory; Hamburger, french fries, and a diet coke!
We used to go on weekends too; hamburger, fries, onion rings and that awsome chocolate almond custard icecream! Now I'm hungry...
