*Original text was "It's better than all the rest" but P.C. set in early at old #1, and it was apparently felt preferrable to teach us to strive for mediocrity than to risk hurting the feelings of other schools' students despite the fact that they (1) would probably never hear the song and (2) were patently inferior.
Martin B. Anderson has come leaping back to life in the form of class pictures that have been making the rounds. Feel free to invite former #1 Schoolers from the 50s-60s to visit this blog and comment. Also feel free to exchange contact info with long lost friends. Anyone with pictures of other 50s-60s classes please send them to Ezra. Other memories? Sgt. Moynihan? Ken & Birdie Button? Tay House Carnival? White Elephant Sales? Mrs. Lintz' kindergarten circus? As I recall, the song had the lines, "Our work has not been easy, In fields we have our fun". Some seventh graders found this quite naughty.
